Hampton Downs landfill gas project

Landfills produce large quantities of gas resulting from the natural decomposition of highly compacted refuse. The gas is extracted and used for the production of electricity. This project is about power generation from landfill gas.
Description of facility:

The new LFGTE plant at Hampton Downs landfill in Waikato was installed in 2009, and generates enough electricity to supply all of the site's needs, as well as supply surplus energy into the national grid.

The first stage of this project involved the supply, packaging, installation and commissioning of a pair of Generator Modules. Each module comprises a Waukesha APG1000 Enginator, rated for 1,000kWe continuous duty on landfill gas. Entec supplied and installed the equipment.

The second stage of this project involved the supply, packaging, installation and commissioning of a second pair of Generator Modules. Each module comprises a Waukesha APG1000 Enginator, rated for 1,000kWe continuous duty on landfill gas.
